NameNotes
Graves, LeeLee Graves received his baptism into the world of wonderfully diverse beer during a visit to Germany in 1986. From a visit to a monastery where the monks brewed a high-octane schwarzbier to the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, where strangers became friends over brimming liters of lager, he experienced a culture that set him on a lifelong adventure learning about beer. In 1996, while a writer and editor at The Richmond Times-Dispatch, he began writing a weekly column about beer; it was syndicated by Tribune Media Services in Chicago for several years. In addition to the statewide book on beer, Graves has written two other books--Richmond Beer: A History of Brewing in the River City, and Charlottesville Beer: Brewing in Jefferson's Shadow. A lifelong resident of Virginia and graduate of the College of William and Mary, he also writes about beer for magazines and his website, https://www.leegraves.com.
