Description

Learn about craft beer from the RVA Beer Guy, Lee Graves!!!!
In this course, you will learn about the types and styles of craft beer, the history of each, and the regional history of craft beer. The course will be offered at a local brewery and provide for the opportunity to taste a variety of types and styles of beer. After two evenings, you will walk away with a new understanding and love for craft beer.

Lee Graves received his baptism into the world of wonderfully diverse beer during a visit to Germany in 1986. From a visit to a monastery where the monks brewed a high-octane schwarzbier to the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, where strangers became friends over brimming liters of lager, he experienced a culture that set him on a lifelong adventure learning about beer. In 1996, while a writer and editor at The Richmond Times-Dispatch, he began writing a weekly column about beer; it was syndicated by Tribune Media Services in Chicago for several years. He has written two books--Richmond Beer: A History of Brewing in the River City, and Charlottesville Beer: Brewing in Jefferson's Shadow--and currently is working on a statewide book on Virginia beer. A lifelong resident of Virginia and graduate of the College of William and Mary, he also writes about beer for magazines and his website, https://www.leegraves.com. Graves currently splits time between Charlottesville and Richmond.
