Description
This is a 3day, 19 hour plus, training in which participants will learn about: 1) the connection between research identifying abusive child rearing traits and the development of NPP to treat and prevent the re-occurrence of child maltreatment; 2) the levels & dosage of parent ed. and the philosophy, goals, values, structure and evidence-based validation of NPP; 3) how the constructs and competencies are taught and understood in the Program, through lessons & activities relating to child development, use of positive personal power and the importance of empowering children and adults to use their voice, alternatives to physical punishment (guiding discipline), self-awareness and building self-esteem, self-concept and empathy in parents and children; 4) impact of parent-child attachment; 5) being aware of trauma; 6)application of the Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory in measuring attitudes and beliefs pre and post of the classes, and the use of the Nurturing Skills Competency Scale (NSCS); 7) implementation of the group and home-based programs.
