Description
If you are interested in:
- Obtaining skills for integrating spiritual care into your workplace/practice/care of others,
- Gaining resources for recognizing when a person is in a spiritual distress, or
- Developing skills for offering spiritual care in various settings,
This six-week continuing education program is one day a week in the evening and facilitated by professional chaplains at VCU Health. Topics include spiritual care in crisis, spiritual care in grief and bereavement, high-level spiritual care assessment and intervention, spiritual care through listening and knowing yourself, and spiritual care with children and youth.
Each synchronous session is 60 minutes, on a Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 PM for six-weeks.
Session 1: October 15th – Introduction to Spiritual Care Companioning/Know Thyself (Bailey)
Session 2: October 22nd – The Art of Listening (Finnegan-Hosey)
Session 3: October 29th – Spiritual Care Assessment and Interventions (Barnes)
Session 4: November 12th – Grief and Bereavement (Hamilton)
Session 5: November 19th – Spiritual Care in Crisis (Redmond)
Session 6: November 26th – Spiritual Care with Children and Youth (Bradley)

Cancellation/Refund Policy: You may cancel your registration on or before September 24, 2024. All payments are nonrefundable. If the participant is unable to attend the program, a credit toward a future enrollment will be allowed. Cancellations must be received via email at ocpe@vcu.edu
In the unlikely event that this program is canceled or postponed due to insufficient enrollments or unforeseen circumstances, the university will fully refund registration fees, but cannot be held responsible for any other expenses, including change or cancellation charges to include but not limited to airlines, hotels, travel agencies, or other organizations.
