Description

Complete all five courses in the cohort program to earn your Excellence in Online Learning Program digital badge. Each course in the program earns its own digital badge culminating with a program badge upon successful completion of all five courses. Each course is asynchronous with support and facilitation from VCU’s experienced and seasoned instructional design team with expertise in online learning and teaching with technology.

Course 1: Designing Online Instruction is tailored for educators eager to master the art of crafting engaging online learning experiences. Explore principles of virtual instruction, set clear objectives, devise effective assessments, and create seamless course navigation. This asynchronous collaborative online course should take just 15 - 20 hours to unlock your digital badge.

Course 2: Best Practices in Online Instruction empowers you to craft engaging online learning experiences for maximum student success. This asynchronous collaborative online course should take just 12 - 15 hours to unlock your digital badge.

Course 3: Evaluating Quality in Online Courses equips you with the knowledge and skills to become a leader in online course quality assurance, whether you're seeking to explore the nuances of top-tier online course design or aiming to implement best practices. You’ll be able to complete this asynchronous collaborative course in 10 - 15 hours to earn your digital badge.

Course 4: Mentoring for Online Excellence will equip you with the expertise to guide peers in online course design and instruction. You’ll uncover best practices and innovative strategies to empower colleagues toward success in online teaching. You’ll be able to complete this asynchronous collaborative course in 12 - 15 hours to earn your digital badge.

Course 5: Leadership for Online Programs unlocks your potential to shape the future of digital learning! You’ll dive into the fundamentals of online education, empowering you to develop courses and programs while exploring the role of administrator. You’ll be able to complete this asynchronous collaborative course in 12 - 15 hours to earn your digital badge.

Registration Deadline: Registrations will be accepted through May 20, 2024.

Upon registration, you will receive a URL/Link in order to access the courses in the Canvas Learning Management System. Follow the link and then choose "Enroll." Login instructions will be available within the provided link as well. Use a personal (non-VCU) email to set up your Account in Canvas in order to access the fully online coursework.
