Notes

VCU Continuing and Professional Education requires four years of professional work experience preferably in an office setting and/or a minimum of an associate’s degree (degree does not have to be in the legal field). Before enrolling in this certificate program, it is strongly encouraged all students meet with the VCU Continuing and Professional Education student adviser to ensure a full understanding of the rigor and requirements needed to be successful in this intensive six-month certificate program.

Students typically spend between 10 to 15 hours outside of the Zoom sessions each week reading and preparing assignments.

After registering, all students are required to attend an online orientation session before the first night of class. Orientation materials are typically sent two weeks prior to the course start date. After registering, check the email address you provided for updates and reminders.

Payment Plan: An Incremental Payment Plan is an option for payment. This breaks the cost into 5 payments with the first being at the time of registration. The form can be found at https://ocpe.vcu.edu/paralegal/enrollment.html and sent to the VCU Continuing and Professional Education via mail or email to the contact information found on the form. When completing this form, you should not register via the online portal. You will be registered by VCU Continuing and Professional Education and contacted regarding your first payment.
Cancellation/Refund Policy: You may cancel your registration up to two weeks before the program start date, and receive a full refund minus any credit card processing fees. After that date, no refunds will be given. Cancellations must be received via email at ocpe@vcu.edu. Participants may transfer to a future program within one year of your original program, based on availability, with no penalty. Participant substitutions will be accepted up to two business days before the start of the program.
In the unlikely event that this program is cancelled or postponed due to insufficient enrollments or unforeseen circumstances, the university will fully refund registration fees, but cannot be held responsible for any other expenses, including change or cancellation charges to include but not limited to airlines, hotels, travel agencies, or other organizations.

Please note if enrolled in an incremental payment plan, full payment will be due if you choose to drop out of the program after the cancellation deadline.
