Description
You’ll learn how to use double-entry bookkeeping, record debits and credits, and properly track financial transactions using the cash basis method of accounting. Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, you’ll gain the confidence to identify, analyze, and record transactions that impact your business’s financial health.
Whether you're preparing to take on accounting responsibilities or want to sharpen your bookkeeping knowledge, this course gives you the tools to understand and manage key components of the accounting cycle.
Course Outcomes
- Understand the accounting equation and how it applies to every financial transaction in a business.
- Identify and categorize accounts across the five key areas: assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, revenue, and expenses.
- Create and customize a chart of accounts to reflect the unique needs of a business.
- Differentiate between cash basis and accrual basis accounting, and understand when each method is used.
- Apply double-entry bookkeeping principles using debits and credits within T-accounts.
- Analyze and record financial transactions involving assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, and expenses.
- Practice real-world transaction recording using journal entries that support sound financial reporting.
